Mpumi Phillips is Director of Distribution at The Orchard, the Sony Music-owned digital distribution company, where she works closely with leading labels and artists while helping position African talent on the global stage. 
Her career spans music distribution, publishing, licensing, supervision, and artist development, making her one of the key behind-the-scenes forces shaping the modern African music industry.
Before joining The Orchard, Mpumi led the creative department at Sheer Publishing, specialising in music clearances for film, television, and advertising. 
Her impressive portfolio as a music supervisor includes major productions such as Blood & Water, Reyka, Rhythm City, iNumber Number, Beyond the River, and the popular How To Ruin and Yoh franchises.
From her early career beginnings in Los Angeles with Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA) to her influential role at legendary independent label Ghetto Ruff, Mpumi has built a reputation as a passionate advocate for African music and creators.
She has also contributed to industry leadership through her involvement with the Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) and the South African Music Awards steering committee.
