Kodal Minerals (AIM:KOD) CEO Bernard Aylward spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about strong third-quarter performance at its Bougouni lithium project in Mali, rising export volumes and plans to expand production.

Bougouni produced 27,234 dry metric tonnes of spodumene concentrate in Q3, taking year-to-date output to more than 80,000 tonnes despite wet-season challenges. Four completed shipments have generated around US$142.8 million in revenue, while a fifth shipment departed in September.

Aylward highlighted the impact of stronger lithium prices, with cash generated by the operation enabling the repayment of the Hainan loan facility in full. The project venture is now debt-free, strengthening its position to fund future development.

Kodal has also secured an export permit for an additional 125,000 tonnes of concentrate, supporting its plans for continued shipments.

Looking ahead, the company is focused on improving mining and processing performance while advancing feasibility studies, metallurgical testwork and environmental assessments for its proposed Stage 2 flotation plant. Aylward discussed the next development milestones and Kodal’s ambition to move into the next phase of Bougouni’s growth in 2027.
