Gelion PLC (AIM:GELN, OTC:GELNF, FRA:X0S) CEO Matt Wood and CFO Amit Gupta spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion after the battery technology company delivered FY2026 results ahead of market expectations and advanced plans to commercialise its nano-encapsulated sulfur (NES) technology.
Gupta reported total income of £2.5 million, 17% above analyst consensus, and an adjusted EBITDA loss of £4.4 million, 10% better than expected. Gelion ended June with £9.6 million in pro forma cash and cash equivalents.
Wood discussed progress with existing partners including TDK and the Max Planck Institute, alongside new relationships with Nissan Technical Centre Europe and the US National Laboratory of the Rockies. Independent US testing also validated NES battery performance, supporting potential applications in defence, aerospace and drones.
Looking ahead, Gelion expects to recognise commercial revenue in FY2027 through a £2 million funded development and scale-up agreement with Mitsui Kinzoku and a co-funded proof-of-concept programme with a top-five global automotive manufacturer.
Wood and Gupta explained how the company is shifting its focus towards scale-up, customer validation and commercial growth, with electric vehicles, drones and consumer devices among its target markets.
