Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Each morning, before my feet touch the floor, I thank God for the gift of another day. I surrender my thoughts, my actions, and my will to Him. I don’t know everything the day will hold, but I want meet with the Lord before anything else has my attention.
Then, as I rise, and before I read any Scripture or continue in prayer, I sit still for a few moments. To be honest, this is often the hardest part of my morning routine.
My mind wants to get ahead of me. It reaches for what needs to be done, a conversation I need to have, or something I’m still carrying from yesterday. So I pause. I let those thoughts pass without trying to follow them, and I picture a small river running gently through the mountains, or a beautiful sunrise as the sounds of nature comes alive.
