Scripture: Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Have you ever been startled by a shadow? Perhaps you were walking through the house at night and, for a moment, something familiar looked frightening. Once you turned on the light, you realized there was nothing there to fear.
Shadows can do that. They can make us feel as though danger is closer, larger, and more certain than it really is.
First, shadows make things appear bigger than they are. A small object can cast a shadow that stretches across an entire wall. Worry does the same thing. One difficult conversation can become the end of a relationship. One turbulent moment has the potential to become a future you are afraid to face.
