If you're trying to increase podcast downloads, I want you to think about something we don't talk about nearly enough when we're talking about podcast growth: who you're building relationships with.
Because we spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to grow your podcast by finding more strangers. More social posts, better keywords, more promotion, more ways to get discovered. And yes, all of that matters. But sometimes the person who can introduce your show to exactly the right new listeners is another podcaster who already has their attention.
That's what we're talking about in this episode. How guesting, collaborations, recommendations and simply knowing the right people can become part of your podcast growth strategy—and why community can play a much bigger role in helping you increase podcast downloads than I think we give it credit for.
It's also a big part of why I created The Show. I wanted a Canadian room where women entrepreneurs with podcasts could actually find each other. Not networking for the sake of networking, but real relationships that can lead to guests, collaborations, referrals, new audiences and opportunities we probably wouldn't find on our own.
Because podcast marketing strategy doesn't always need to mean another tactic. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do for your podcast business is stop trying to grow the whole thing by yourself.
So if you want to increase podcast downloads, maybe the next question isn't only, “How do I find more listeners?”
Maybe it's, “Who do I need to know?”
The Show is now open for Canadian women entrepreneurs building podcasts that get found, grow their businesses and climb the charts.
