In this episode, I explore the thoracic spine as a vital missing link in addressing distal pain and strain, from the elbow and wrist all the way down to the pelvis. I break down the anatomical connections between the thoracic spine, ribcage, shoulder blade, and arm—explaining how the shoulder acts as a dynamic transfer station and how subtle "snagged" or uncoordinated movement quality can lead to distal compensations down the arm.
I also dive into the research supporting these whole-body relationships, including studies on tennis elbow, thoracic mobilization, and how slouched posture reduces shoulder range and force. Moving beyond symptom-chasing or searching for a single mechanism, I share how looking at myofascial chains, movement quality, and full-body integration allows us to improve how clients feel, move, and return to the activities that matter to them.
