In which the Mister joins me in reviewing THE PARTY'S JUST BEGINNING (2018), from writer/director, Karen Gillan.
A sharp-witted young woman named Liusaidh (Karen Gillan) living in the Scottish Highlands spirals into a reckless, self-destructive mid-twenties crisis as she struggles to process the tragic suicide of her best friend. Numbing her profound grief and deep isolation through heavy drinking and casual hookups, she finds herself unable to connect with her indifferent surroundings or find solace in her day-to-day life. As the anniversary of her loss approaches, an unexpected connection with a troubled out-of-towner and anonymous caller who's mistaken her home number for a crisis center line, forces her to finally confront the heavy emotional weight haunting her. The film clocks in at 1 h and 31 m, is unrated and we caught it on Prime Video but you can also catch it on Plex, Tubi and to buy/rent on Prime Video. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
