253 Twisted Tuesdays: When Your Family Is Hurting - Showing Up When Life Gets Heavy

Dela

Sometimes growth looks like doing the thing that makes you cringe. Sometimes it looks like staying in your own lane instead of comparing yourself to everyone around you. And sometimes, growth has nothing to do with achievement at all—it simply means being there when someone you love is hurting.

In this Twisted Tuesday episode, Amy opens up about returning home from Dallas energized by a new mastermind, only to find herself battling overwhelm, fear of failure, comparison, and a serious case of imposter syndrome. She knows that growing her platform means showing up differently—and more authentically—but knowing what you need to do doesn't make doing it comfortable.

Instead of waiting for the fear to disappear, Amy is leaning directly into it with an interactive social-media challenge designed to push her outside her comfort zone. Her goal isn't simply gaining followers. It's proving to herself that growth can happen when you willingly do things that scare you.

The episode then becomes much more personal.

Amy shares why Kevin, her ex-husband and longtime podcast producer, recently needed time away after his brother Collin died following a long struggle with mental health. She also discusses the additional losses Kevin's wife and family experienced shortly afterward and why she believes difficult subjects like mental health, suicide, grief, and the realities families face shouldn't simply remain unspoken.

It's an episode about discomfort on very different scales: taking a chance on yourself, allowing yourself to be a beginner, supporting people through circumstances you cannot fix, and continuing to show up when life gets painfully real.

In this episode, Amy talks about: returning from Dallas and confronting the learning curve of a new mastermind; feeling like an imposter while comparing herself with people further ahead; why authenticity matters even more in an increasingly AI-driven social-media world; doing uncomfortable things despite feeling awkward or afraid; her interactive challenge to reach 20,000 Instagram followers; why doing the work matters more than simply buying another program or hiring another coach; supporting family members through grief; the difficulty families can face when someone they love is struggling with mental health; creating opportunities for people to help; and why difficult conversations need to happen instead of remaining hidden.
