Apple TV+’s new crime thriller, Lucky, is a limited series starring Anya Taylor-Joy and loosely based on Marissa Stapley’s 2021 bestselling novel. Luciana Armstrong, a.k.a. Lucky, is a lifelong grifter who finds herself betrayed, broke, and scrambling to stay ahead of the FBI and a dangerous crime boss who happens to be her mother-in-law.

On this podcast, we discuss the first three installments, from Lucky’s escape through Las Vegas to the shifting alliances, flashbacks, and increasingly complicated search for her missing husband and stolen money. We also get into the stacked cast—including Timothy Olyphant, Annette Bening, Drew Starkey, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor—compare the series with the novel, and figure out how much of the story was changed for television.
