Could mould be hiding in your home, and could it be affecting your health without you realising it?
In this episode of the Mind Movement Health Podcast, I sit down with certified industrial environmentalist Jason Richards to explore mould, mould exposure and the potential impact our indoor environment can have on our health.
Mould is naturally present in our environment, but when excess moisture allows it to grow inside our homes, it can become a much bigger problem.
Jason explains what causes mould, where it commonly hides, how to recognise potential signs of a mould problem and why simply cleaning visible mould may not address the underlying issue.
We also discuss the potential health effects associated with mould exposure, including respiratory symptoms and brain fog, why some people appear to be more sensitive to mould than others, and the role mycotoxins may play.
Importantly, Jason takes us beyond what we can see.
Mould can grow behind walls and within building materials, meaning there may be times when unexplained health symptoms, water damage, persistent dampness or a musty environment warrant further investigation.
We discuss professional mould inspections, ERMI testing, mould remediation, post-remediation verification, and practical ways to reduce moisture and help prevent mould growth in your home.
Whether you've discovered visible mould, experienced flooding or water damage, are renovating or buying a home, or simply want to create a healthier indoor environment, this episode is packed with practical information.

More About Jason Richards:
Jason Richards is the co-founder of PureHealth Mold Inspections and a Board-Certified Indoor Environmentalist.
PureHealth started with a conversation. A functional medicine physician shared his frustration with seeing patients struggling with mold-related health concerns while conventional inspections continued telling them their homes were “fine” based on just a few samples. That conversation sparked a question for Jason and his business partner: What if the problem wasn’t the lack of mold, but the way we were looking for it?
They set out to build a better approach, developing a whole-home methodology designed to uncover mold, moisture, and hidden environmental issues conventional testing can miss. Today, Jason’s mission goes beyond finding mold. It’s helping families understand their environment and create healthier homes that can support their healing and long-term health.
