DAP marks its 60th anniversary this weekend at a party congress that could prove far more consequential than the celebrations suggest. More than 4,000 delegates are expected to gather as the party debates whether it should remain in the federal government for the rest of the current parliamentary term. The decision comes amid questions over DAP's influence within government, its relationship with coalition partners and its strategy heading towards the next general election. Whatever delegates decide, the congress could offer an important indication of how DAP sees its future after six decades in Malaysian politics.
