Episode 16: A new approach to creating metal-organic framework glasses with tunable properties

In this podcast episode, MRS Bulletin’s Laura Leay interviews Professor Sebastian Henke and graduate student Jan-Benedikt Weiß from TU Dortmund University in Germany about their research, which uses coordination chemistry to produce metal organic framework glasses. Using a chemical agent as both a flux and a chemically specific coordination sphere modifier, they are able to tune the properties of the MOF glasses as well as create glasses from crystalline MOFs for the first time. This work was published in a recent issue of Nature Materials.
