If we could not begin our life in Christ through our own strength, what makes us think we can bring it to maturity through our own efforts? Have we truly understood the power of the Cross, or are we still attempting to produce through the flesh what only Holy Spirit can accomplish?
In this episode of Tent Talk, Nancy McCready brings a powerful challenge from Galatians 3:1–5, confronting the danger of becoming spiritually thoughtless, unreflecting, and dependent upon human effort. Paul's words to the Galatians expose a troubling contradiction: having begun by the Spirit, they were now attempting to reach maturity through the flesh. Nancy challenges us to examine whether we have lost sight of the crucified Christ and begun relying on our own goodness, religious habits, or self-improvement instead of the life of Christ within us.
True discipleship requires more than hearing messages, attending gatherings, or accepting everything we are taught without examination. The Father is raising thinking, reflecting, responsive sons who meditate upon truth, allow it to examine their lives, and learn to recognize His voice. Drawing from Mark 4 and 2 Corinthians 11, Nancy emphasizes the importance of discerning what we hear, questioning what we have believed, and recognizing how the gospel we receive shapes the life we live.
This episode is a call to awaken from spiritual complacency, recover the reality of the crucified Christ, and abandon every attempt to mature through self-effort. The Father is raising sons who know their identity in Christ, are governed by Holy Spirit, and are prepared to participate in His work across generations and nations. It is time to think, reflect, respond, and grow up in Him.
