Good afternoon, I'm _ with today's episode of EZ News.
Tai-Ex opening
The Tai-Ex opened down 109-points this morning from yesterday's close, at
46,712 on turnover of 8.8-billion N-T.
The market lost ground on Monday, but the losses were limited after investors
stepped-in late in the session to buy major tech stocks.
Buying also picked up as investors here saw the Seoul market rebound, with
memory chipmakers Samsung and S-K Hynix recovering from their earlier losses.
Japan allows the use of the word Taiwan on professional certification
The Japanese government has changed its national certification system policy
and will now allow Taiwanese professionals working in Japan to list “Taiwan”
as their place of origin.
The move comes after Japan updated the system by easing the easing (緩和) of
rules on nationality in official licensing documentation.
The change was announced by the Japan-Taiwan Friendship Parliamentarians’
League in Tokyo.
The license revision covers 322 professions, including doctors and nurses.
Previously, Taiwanese professionals working in Japan had to list China as
their nationality on professional certifications and licenses.
But the new system includes the ability to register both countries and
regions.
NIA seeks new** logo for fund supporting new immigrants**
The National Immigration Agency is encouraging the public to submit designs
for a new logo for the New Immigrant Development Fund.
The deadline for submitting designs is Thursday and the competition offers
prizes worth a combined 300,000 N-T.
The agency says the competition aims to create a visual identity that will
"make the fund's support for new immigrants' lives and development more
visible (可見的)."
The competition is open to anyone legally living in Taiwan, regardless of
nationality or age.
Participants may enter individually or in teams of up to three people, with
each individual or team limited to one submission.
RUBIO DENIES US PAUSED INTELLIGENCE SHARING WITH UKRAINE AS RUSSIA HITS
KYIV WITH 16 BALLISTIC MISSILES
Russia fired sixteen ballistic missiles at the Kyiv region overnight on
Monday, killing a young woman and cutting power to more than half a million
households — with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying he received
no early warning from partner countries.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has denied Washington paused intelligence
sharing with Ukraine, blaming a software fault in Kyiv's early warning system
— but the row has deepened fears that the Trump administration is distancing
(疏遠) itself from Ukraine while warming ties with Moscow.
Nick Harper reports from Washington.
Colombia Gov Ordered to Protect Historical Artifacts
A Colombian judge ordered the nation’s government to protect more than 30
historical artifacts that officials removed from exhibits in Bogota’s
national museum last week.
The objects were removed as part of an effort by Colombia’s conservative
government to change how the nation’s history is told in museums and schools.
The judge says the objects, should be preserved in a safe place while a
ruling is made on whether they should once again be shown to the public.
The objects include a copy of the first magazine published by Colombia’s
LGBTQ+ community and a poster depicting (描繪) a former guerrilla leader who
later became a presidential candidate.
