Department store chain David Jones Group has been placed into voluntary administration and receivership after months of turmoil.
The collapse follows failed discussions between the 188 year old company and its landlord Scentre Group, which operates Westfield malls here and across the ditch.
David Jones has one branch in New Zealand in Auckland's Newmarket.
RX Group Founder and Retail Strategy Expert Juanita Neville-Te Rito told Mike Hosking some of the stores are still performing very well – $2 billion worth of sales still go through David Jones.
She it's about having more relevant stores in the right place at the right time, and a long time ago they just expanded too far.
