Murray Print: Sydney University Political Education Professor on the reforms to the Australian high school curriculum to cover antisemitism in more depth
Australian educators are hoping to stamp out racism with new reforms to its civics curriculum.
From next year, high schoolers will learn the 'evils of antisemitism and horror of the holocaust' in the wake of the Bondi terror attack.
Ministers are also considering making civics and citizenship lessons mandatory in years nine and ten.
Sydney University Political Education Professor Murray Print told Mike Hosking the new curriculum aims to develop student's awareness, concern, and understanding of the world.
He says the topics have always been taught but weren't high profile enough, and now the curriculum will have more substantial, upfront and purposeful information.
