America’s cattle herd is shrinking while the United States becomes increasingly dependent on foreign beef — and independent ranchers are being squeezed from both sides.  I’m joined by Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF USA and a leading advocate for independent cattle producers, to examine how America reached this point and what it would take to rebuild a sovereign, competitive domestic cattle industry.  He explains exactly how the beef importations exacerbate the meat packing monopoly, while harming cattlemen without helping consumers.  We also discuss why the Prime Act is so important and his effort to enforce anti-trust laws.  Independent ranchers receive no government subsidies and operate in a highly manipulated market. Meanwhile, the government heavily subsidizes corn/soybeans (49% of all ag subsidies) and offers massive tax abatements for solar farms and data centers.
