Can I trust you with the real me?
I can trust you with the me that can do everything.
I’ll take care of everything and you can just be there.
And if I can’t trust you some of the time, I’ll just shut down and that’s okay.
That’s, I think, the way most of us live.
I don’t really trust you. So I’ll just be my ‘10 self’ around you a lot of the time. And when you leave the house, I’ll be my real self.
That trust creates emotional intimacy, right?
But here we’re talking about trusting his intentions.
His intentions to move forward.
His intentions to be good to you.
His intentions toward what a connected relationship is… what a lifetime relationship is… what a marriage is… as opposed to a fabulous experience with a man that’s not forever.
When a good man decides you’re the one, he doesn’t give you reasons to distrust him… but being chosen is not the same as experiencing deep intimacy.
