Not very quickly, if the math is right. The installed base of existing fossil fuel consumption is so vast that it will take decades to replace it all. We don't even have the technology yet for some kinds of fuel need (air travel for example). I'm not advocating that we retain fossil fuels, but at the same time, halting them in their tracks is a sure fire way to cause riots or financial market chaos.
