Roman Reigns literally and figuratively rolled over Seth Rollins to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, capping off a predictably booked yet undeniably stellar main event.
Beyond that high-stakes showdown, however, SummerSlam suffered as a bloated, forgettable pay-per-view with precious few meaningful takeaways.
The undercard offered a chaotic mix of results: Kevin Owens outlasted Sami Zayn, Gunther, and Finn Bálor in a Fatal 4-Way to secure a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship, Chelsea Green climbed to victory as the new Interim WWE Women’s Champion, Baron Corbin dethroned Trick Williams for the U.S. Title, and Danhausen somehow beat Dominik Mysterio in a surreal Human Money on a Pole match.
While the main event delivered, the rest of the show felt bogged down by filler, leaving fans wondering if the payoff was worth the marathon runtime.
