In just 350 years, Christianity spread from a small, unimpressive band of ordinary men on the edge of the Roman Empire to millions of believers across the empire itself. Humanly speaking, it made no sense. The disciples lacked power, education, influence, and status. Yet the church grew with astonishing speed, just as Jesus promised it would. Christ declared that he would build his church, that the gates of hell would not prevail against it, and that his witnesses would carry the gospel to the ends of the earth. Acts shows us that this explosive growth was no accident—it was the fulfillment of Christ’s promise that: the gospel is unstoppable.
