OVERVIEW
Waiver wire moves in fantasy basketball can make or break your season. I dig into the top-added and most-dropped players, weighing the logic and fantasy consequences behind these trends, and clarify which moves actually make sense for your league—including nuanced calls on role players, hot streaks, and risky streamers.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Draymond Green remains a viable category league add for assists and defensive stats, even with his low scoring and modest fantasy points; in points leagues, he's largely ignorable.
- Karlo Marković is getting a lot of waiver wire attention due to his blocks and efficiency, but concerns remain about his role and minutes once Yves Missi returns—view him as a short-term streamer rather than season-long solution.
- Max Strus can be a useful assist source from the wing, but the return of Brandon Ingram, more minutes for Keaton Waggler, and possible Bradley Beal minutes will crowd his opportunity. Not a must-add, but worth considering for specific builds.
- Brook Lopez and Sadiq Bey are fine to drop in standard leagues; their upside and roles don't justify holding if a hot add is available or you need to stream.
- Brayden Burries is starting and seeing roster spikes, but his low assists and defensive stats cap his upside; worth a short-term add, but monitor closely.
- Klay Thompson is being preemptively added in many leagues, but I see no fantasy justification for joining that trend right now.
- Alex Caruso is my highest-priority add among current waiver names, as his production per minute in steals and defensive stats holds up even in limited minutes.
- Players like Jake LaRavia and Oso Ighodaro are more deep-league watchlist types; their minutes and production depend on multiple moving parts and injuries.
- Dropping Dennis Schroder, Derrick Jones Jr., and John Collins is justified as their roles have shrunk with key player returns or underwhelming production.
