MEDIA MATTERS WITH DAVE DAVIS & LEWIS STEELE | PART 2
Dave Davis is joined by Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele for Part 2 of Media Matters on Anfield Index, discussing Trey Nyoni's impressive emergence, Liverpool's midfield selection dilemma and the latest injury news under Andoni Iraola.
With Liverpool building momentum following their dramatic 4-3 Champions League victory over Villarreal, attention turns to one of the club's most exciting young midfielders.
Trey Nyoni is making a serious impression, earning increasing trust from Iraola and his coaching staff. Lewis discusses his own interview with the youngster, revealing how Nyoni models his game on Thiago Alcântara and approaches first-team football without nerves.
The pair examine Nyoni's composure, progressive passing and ability to dictate the tempo, with Lewis suggesting that the youngster could create genuine competition for Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.
That raises a fascinating question: Could Liverpool actually be more balanced without Szoboszlai in the starting XI?
Despite the Hungarian's outstanding performances last season, Lewis explains why a midfield featuring Alexis Mac Allister, Trey Nyoni and Florian Wirtz could currently offer Liverpool a better balance.
There's also an update on Víctor Muñoz's knee injury, with Lewis discussing the winger's absence from training, his potential return and the attacking depth now available to Iraola.
Attention then turns to Ronald Araujo, whose performances at right-back have created a significant decision for Liverpool. Lewis explains why making the defender's move permanent could make sense, provided his impressive form continues.
Finally, Dave and Lewis discuss Conor Bradley's injury recovery, with Lewis suggesting a return before Christmas remains uncertain and stressing the importance of carefully managing players returning from lengthy absences.
Is Trey Nyoni ready to become a Liverpool regular, and has Iraola discovered his strongest midfield combination?
All this and more in Part 2 of Media Matters with Dave Davis and Lewis Steele, exclusively on Anfield Index.
