On April 27, 2024, Mica Francis Miller — a 30-year-old Myrtle Beach woman in the middle of divorcing her pastor husband, John-Paul Miller — called 911 from a state park in Robeson County, North Carolina. It would be the last time the world heard her voice. Ten days later, her death was ruled a suicide.
But Mica's story is anything but typical — and she left behind a trail of evidence she wanted the world to find.
In the premiere of our remastered Drop-Feed series, Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell return to where their reporting began: the bizarre sermon Pastor JP Miller delivered the morning after his estranged wife's death. An obituary that reads like a taunt. A criminal history that includes running over a woman with a car — twice. And a stack of police reports showing Mica tracked, harassed, and hospitalized against her will in the months before she died.
Police say that JP Miller didn't pull the trigger. But as Mandy and Liz explain — there's more than one way to end a life.
