More than $10 million of his own money. An ambition to compound earnings per share at over 40%. And an opportunity Ali Mazanderani compares with Brazil ten years ago.
In this episode of the Mispriced Assets podcast, I sit down with Lesaka’s executive chairman to understand the business behind his conviction: who its customers are, why they choose Lesaka, and how solving their everyday financial problems can translate into a more valuable company.
We follow the connections between Lesaka’s three businesses—consumer, merchant and enterprise—from accounts, lending and insurance to local shops, supplier payments and the infrastructure behind the transactions. We explore cross-selling, customer acquisition, the shift from services toward products, the potential of Bank Zero, and how growth could reach shareholders through earnings per share and capital allocation.
I also put the earnings ambition next to the Bloomberg consensus figures discussed in the interview, ask Ali about his personal share purchases, and challenge the assumptions behind the math. The aim is to understand the opportunity, the operating model and the people responsible for making it happen.
Disclosure: I own $LSAK shares and calls, plan to hold for the foreseeable future, and may trade at any time.
