Today's guest is singer, songwriter, guitarist, and one of the leading voices in keeping classic country and rockabilly alive, Chuck Mead. As the founder and frontman of BR5-49, Chuck helped launch the 1990s roots music revival and has gone on to build an acclaimed solo career.
He's also served as Musical Director for the hit Broadway and touring productionMillion Dollar Quartet, helping bring the legendary 1956 Sun Records jam session of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins to life for audiences around the world.
Chuck also has deep roots here in Lawrence, Kansas, where he grew up, making today's conversation even more special. From hanging out with William Burroughs to seeing a naked Jerry Lee Lewis in bed eating bacon, Chuck's got all the stories. Enjoy!
