Today on Stan and the Fan, we're joined by a musician, singer, and songwriter whose career helped shape the sound of country rock in the 1970s.
Rick Roberts first came to prominence as a member of the legendary Flying Burrito Brothers, stepping into the band following the departure of Gram Parsons. Rick went on to become a founding member and one of the principal songwriters and lead vocalists of Firefall, the enormously successful band that gave us classics like You Are the Woman, Just Remember I Love You, and Strange Way.
But Rick's place in rock history goes beyond his own recordings. In fact, he played a pivotal role in one of the most important musical partnerships of the era. It was Rick Roberts who helped bring Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris together, setting the stage for a collaboration that would forever influence the sound of country and rock music.
From the pioneering days of country rock to the platinum-selling success of Firefall, Rick has had a remarkable career, crossing paths with some of the most influential musicians of his generation.
And today, we're especially looking forward to hearing his stories about the Colorado music scene of the early '70s, when Rick and Stan were both finding their way through an extraordinary period in American music.
So sit back and join us as we welcome singer, songwriter, and country-rock pioneer Rick Roberts to Stan and the Fan!
