What lies beneath the Great Pyramids of Giza? Could an enormous network of underground tunnels, hidden chambers and ancient waterways reveal a forgotten chapter of Egyptian history stretching back thousands of years before the pharaohs?
In this episode, we investigate the extraordinary research of Stephen Mehler, author of The Land of Osiris, and his work alongside Egyptian indigenous wisdom keeper Abd'el Hakim Awyan and engineer Christopher Dunn. Their investigations challenge conventional interpretations of ancient Egypt, proposing that the pyramids and temples were part of a far older civilization possessing sophisticated knowledge of engineering, acoustics, geology and natural energy.
At the heart of the mystery is an alleged underground network connecting Giza, Saqqara, Dahshur and other ancient Egyptian sites. Mehler describes enormous subterranean chambers, smooth-walled tunnels cut through limestone bedrock and a system of underground waterways that he believes once supplied the pyramids with water.
Could these passages have served a purpose far beyond burial and religious ceremony?
The investigation also considers the controversial theory that the Great Pyramid operated as an ancient energy-generating structure, using flowing water, hydrogen, granite, quartz and acoustic resonance. We investigate claims of an ancient explosion within the King's Chamber, unusual damage to the granite ceiling beams, and the possibility that the pyramids were originally constructed as part of an interconnected technological system.
Moving beyond Giza, we travel into the Egyptian Western Desert, where ancient oases, buried waterways and the remnants of a greener Sahara raise questions about human settlement during earlier climatic periods.
According to the indigenous traditions presented by Abd'el Hakim Awyan, Egyptian civilization may have begun tens of thousands of years before the accepted dynastic chronology, with the Sphinx and pyramids representing surviving monuments of an advanced prehistoric culture.
Were the pyramids simply royal tombs, or could their builders have understood properties of stone, water and sound that we have yet to fully appreciate? What was the original purpose of the underground chambers beneath Giza? And might Egypt's greatest archaeological discoveries still be waiting beneath the desert?
An investigation into ancient Egyptian engineering, hidden tunnels, lost technologies, indigenous traditions and the possibility of a forgotten prehistoric civilization.
The more ambitious theories discussed remain disputed and are not established archaeological findings.
