Holy shit, we're on location at one of the happiest places on earth (aka Ballhalla) for the Valkyries 2nd annual Filipino Heritage Night! The Valkyries are San Francisco's WNBA team who are winning their way to the playoffs, and in this episode we're celebrating Filipino style!
We kick things off with Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase (and 2025 WNBA coach of the year!) talking about inclusivity and the importance of being seen. Next you'll hear from Raquel Redondiez, director of SOMA Pilipinas, to discuss celebrating Filipino culture, and the exciting events we have to look forward to for SOMA Pilipinas' 10 year anniversary.
Then it's all things music with one of the best DJs in San Francisco (and friend of the show) DJ Bitesize on the beauty and intersection of Filipino culture and the Ballhalla community. We wrap up our convos with Bay Area born and raised rapper/producer P-Lo on evolving as an artist and his focus on uplifting the next generation of Bay Area talent.
