On October 19, 2026, the Economic Club of Minnesota hosted Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, and the room showed up for it. The in-person crowd was at capacity, a sign of how much interest there is in hearing from one of the most closely watched leaders in American business. The fireside chat between Ed Bastian and Christophe Beck, CEO of Ecolab, was a candid and delightful conversation.

Bastian is a good fit for the Club's mission of bringing national leaders in business and public policy to Minnesota. He has led Delta since 2016 and has been with the company since 1998, guiding it through 9/11, bankruptcy, the Northwest merger, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Delta marked its 100th anniversary in 2025, and Bastian has been reflecting publicly on what it takes to lead a company into its next century. A people first management style is attributed to much of the success of Delta Air Lines. For a Minnesota audience, the conversation carried extra weight. Delta has a major hub at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, and the airline's decisions affect the Twin Cities and beyond.
