On October 5, the Economic Club of Minnesota hosted DFL U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth in back-to-back appearances, just a month before Election Day. Each candidate gave brief remarks and then answered questions from a former dean of the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, Sri Zaheer. The event was not a debate, but it gave members of the business community a chance to hear directly from each candidate.

The conversation covered growing Minnesota's economy, cutting red tape, taxes, affordability, workforce, and fraud in state programs. Both candidates called fraud a top economic concern and pledged greater accountability.
