Tom is one of the leaders of our lunchtime meditation sessions, held here in the Lotus Hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday at 1pm. Tom says:
This might sound surprising, but my favourite part of the lunchtime meditations is walking back to work afterwards! That’s because the trees somehow stand out more and the crowds feel less threatening – the world I see is that bit more beautiful.
It is a great reminder for me to bring some mindfulness into the middle of my day. Leading lunchtime meditation sessions encourages me to think harder about what I am exploring in my meditation practice and how I can teach it to others: the effect is perhaps a little like keeping a meditation journal.
I especially enjoy answering people’s questions because I want to express piece by piece that there is a whole world in here: so much more than the stages as taught when people first come along. It is very rewarding seeing people gradually taking their first steps to notice the landscape around them and how they can traverse it – one question and answer at a time.
