In this episode of the Helion Military History Podcast, Dr Christopher Brice talks to Tom Isitt about his book Thunder in the Mountains: The First World War on the Italian Front. The interview covers not only the campaign, but the difficult climate, terrain and topography under which the campaign was fought. They discuss Tom's travelling around the area, his walking and riding of the battlefield, and his learning to mountain climb in order to reach many of the areas in which soldiers were stationed. They also discuss the spectacular imagery in the book, and his novel use of QR codes within the book to link to more images and maps.
