“My five-year-old told me to quit my dream job.”
What happens when the career you’ve worked so hard for starts costing you the things that matter most?
Bilingual broadcaster and presenter Rhiannon Jones joins Sarah Campus on Showing Up Stronger for an honest conversation about motherhood, ambition, burnout and the courage to walk away from a dream job.
With a career spanning CNN, TRT World and five years presenting for Real Madrid TV, Rhiannon had built an impressive career in broadcasting. Covering the war in Gaza took a huge emotional toll, and the long hours meant missing precious time with her two boys. When her children, in tears, told her they missed her and asked why she didn’t quit, everything changed.
In this episode, we explore:
■ The Wake-Up Call: How her five-year-old’s words made Rhiannon question everything and ultimately walk away from her most secure, well-paid job.
■ The Hidden Cost of Success: The emotional impact of reporting on the war in Gaza, developing secondary trauma and experiencing anxiety that followed her home.
■ Motherhood & Ambition: The guilt of missing bedtime, the pressure to have it all and learning that career success shouldn’t come at the expense of your health or family.
■ Redefining Success: How leaving her dream job transformed her family relationships, why padel became her much-needed escape, and learning to prioritise what truly matters.
A powerful reminder that sometimes, showing up stronger means having the courage to change direction, even when it means letting go of everything you thought you wanted.
