Two acquaintances on a group hike take a short detour and find their route blocked. Forced onto a longer path as a storm closes in, they seek refuge in an old forest-service shelter. After crossing a swollen stream and securing the cold, damaged cabin, shared competence and quiet care turn residual friendship into something denser. By the time the weather eases, both carry a private memory neither is ready to name.
