Content note: This episode includes conversations about trauma, emotional overwhelm and mental health.

What does it really mean to be a highly sensitive person, and how can we learn to treat ourselves with greater compassion?

In this episode, I’m joined by Elizabeth Cush, a licensed clinical professional counsellor, women’s life coach and highly sensitive person. We explore high sensitivity, anxiety, trauma, nervous-system overwhelm and the importance of learning to understand your own needs.

Elizabeth shares her personal and professional insight into why deeply feeling people can become overwhelmed, how past experiences affect the way we respond to the world, and why self-compassion is so important. We also discuss boundaries, people-pleasing, rest and learning to be kinder to ourselves instead of constantly believing we should be coping better.

This is a warm, honest conversation for anyone who feels deeply, becomes easily overwhelmed or has spent years believing they are simply “too sensitive.”

Topics include:

• What it means to be a highly sensitive person
• Anxiety, trauma and nervous-system overwhelm
• People-pleasing and boundaries
• Recognising your emotional needs
• Practising self-compassion
• Learning to work with your sensitivity rather than fighting it
