In this episode of Becoming Recovered: Body and Soul, Carolyn Costin reconnects with her former client, Jenny Mullaney, who is now a CCI Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach and co-author of My Child Has an Eating Disorder.

Jenny shares her 15-year journey from disordered to recovered , including the practical and deeply personal steps that helped her move from fear and control toward joy, connection, and self-acceptance. She and Carolyn explore the “eating disorder self” versus the “healthy self,” the importance of self-compassion, and Jenny’s soulful approach to healing.

Jenny also offers an honest look at what it is like to support clients in their daily lives through virtual, in-person, and live-in recovery coaching. This episode is especially valuable for anyone curious about how coaches help clients turn recovery goals into real-world change.

Whether you are navigating an eating disorder, supporting a loved one, working in the field, or exploring a future in recovery coaching, Jenny’s story is a powerful reminder that becoming fully recovered is possible.

Jenny's Bio:

Jenny Mullaney is a Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach (CCIEDC 1010) and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor (CIEC) offering both virtual and in person support. Since 2017, her coaching certification and practice has been supervised directly by world-renowned eating disorders expert, Carolyn Costin.

Jenny is one of few coaches worldwide who is hired to live at home with clients during various stages of recovery, serving both as a provider and family ally. She has garnered many thousands of hours of specialized experience in her unique role.

Jenny suffered from her own eating disorder, attending Monte Nido Treatment Center in 2005. The philosophy and staff resonated with her so deeply that it ultimately led her to a place of being fully recovered.

Jenny is a published author with a chapter in Andrea Michal’s Tribe of Light: How Community Helps Us Heal (Balboa Press, 2021) and coauthor of My Child Has an Eating Disorder: An Essential Guide for Parents of Kids, Teens, and Adults (Bloomsbury, 2026). Jenny holds a B.A. in liberal studies from Antioch University, is a certified reiki practitioner and part of The Project Heal Healer’s Circle.

Outside of coaching, she can be found dancing, playing piano, performing stand-up comedy, and fostering cats while residing in The West Village of NYC. More information can be found at recoveredispossible.com and instagram.com/jennymullaney
