Throwing Shade at Global Warming: Risks & Reality of Planetary Sunshades with Ross Centers

Dela

In this Climate Chat episode, host Dan Miller interviews Planetary Sunshade Institute's Board Member and former Executive Director, Ross Centers, on the science, risks, and reality of using giant space-based sunshades located between the Sun and the Earth to reduce global warming.

Ross Centers is an American planetary geologist, space entrepreneur, and climate advocate. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of Ethos Space, a lunar infrastructure startup. Based in Los Angeles, California, Centers has positioned himself at the intersection of commercial space resource utilization (SRU) and space-based climate mitigation technologies. By leveraging a deep technical background in space architecture and resources, his career focuses on establishing the physical infrastructure required to sustain an off-world economy while simultaneously building tools to stabilize Earth's climate. Centers developed his expertise in aerospace and geology at the Colorado School of Mines, where he earned a Master’s degree in Space Resources.
