014 - The Slow Unbinding of the Fully Alive

If you're a new creation in Christ, why do you still struggle with the same fears, insecurities, shame, and patterns from your old life?In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil Broere explores three central themes from his new book, Graveclothes: The Slow Unbinding of the Fully Alive. In John 11, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, but Lazarus emerges from the tomb still wrapped in his burial clothes. He is fully alive, yet still bound by what belonged to his former condition. It's a powerful picture of what many Christians experience: genuinely made new in Christ, but still learning to live in the freedom they've received.Through Scripture, personal stories from his years living in Iraq, and the lives of Gideon, Naomi, Peter, and others, Neil explores the difference between our identity in Christ and the things that still need to be transformed. In this episode, you'll discover:-Why God's declaration about your identity is true before your life fully reflects it.-How to recognize the difference between who you are in Christ and the fears, failures, and wounds that still affect you.-Why lasting transformation isn't accomplished by trying harder, but through the renewing work of the Holy Spirit. The graveclothes you still carry don't determine who you are. Jesus does.📖 GRAVECLOTHES — AVAILABLE DECEMBER 1Pre-order Graveclothes: The Slow Unbinding of the Fully Alive and its companion study guide at https://www.neilbroere.com.Pre-orders placed through the website will be personally signed and shipped ahead of the December 1 release.
