What does it actually mean to be made in the image and likeness of God?
In this episode of Between Sundays, we continue our journey through Genesis by looking at Genesis 1:26–28 and the creation of humanity. We’ll explore what it means to bear God’s image, why He gave mankind dominion over creation, and how the command to “be fruitful and multiply” becomes one of the major redemptive themes running through the entire Bible.
We’ll also look at the deeply personal picture of God as the Divine Potter—the God who stoops into the dust, forms humanity with His own hands, and breathes His own life into us. “He knows our frame; He remembers that we are but dust.”
Finally, we’ll consider the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, why love requires boundaries, and how Jesus comes as the Last Adam to recover what the first Adam lost.
And perhaps most astonishing of all: Jesus did not abandon His humanity when He ascended. A Man is now seated at the right hand of the Father. Humanity has been brought into the fellowship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
