Have you ever wondered how someone can lie to you, manipulate you, betray you, psychologically abuse you—and somehow walk away completely convinced that you were the problem?

One of the most confusing and painful parts of narcissistic abuse is watching the narcissist completely rewrite the history of your relationship until they become the victim and you become the villain. But this isn't always as simple as refusing to take accountability. For a narcissistic person, making you the “bad guy” can serve a much deeper psychological purpose.

In this episode, we're going to explore why narcissists may actually need you to be the villain, how projection allows them to place their own shame and unacceptable behavior onto you, why your reactions to prolonged abuse can later be used as “evidence” against you, and why smear campaigns are often about much more than revenge.

We'll also talk about one of the hardest parts of healing: accepting that the narcissist may never acknowledge what really happened—and learning that you don't need their agreement in order to trust your own reality.

Because eventually, healing stops being about proving you weren't the villain in someone else's distorted story.

It becomes about finally realizing you never needed their permission to know who you are.
