Cate & Bronte Campbell: Two Sisters, Twelve Olympic Medals And The Love Behind It All

Dela

They grew up in the same house, chased the same dream and spent two decades racing each other to the wall. Now, without any medals on the line, Cate and Bronte Campbell are sitting down to talk about the love story at the heart of it all: sisterhood.

In this episode of The Australian Women's Weekly Love Stories, Cate and Bronte join host Tiffany Dunk to reflect on two decades of shared sacrifice, rivalry and unwavering support. They share moments from their childhood in Malawi, what it felt like to stand on an Olympic podium and the private heartbreaks that tested them along the way.

Plus, they open up about what it really feels like to race your sister in front of the nation, how they held each other together when things fell apart, and the role their brother Hamish, who has cerebral palsy, has played in grounding them throughout their careers.

And now with both in retirement, they talk about what it means to step away from a lifelong dream and the projects they're pursuing next.

Moments you’ll hear:

  • Growing up in Malawi with a big family
  • How their love of swimming began
  • Their brother Hamish, who has cerebral palsy, and what he taught them about perspective
  • How they navigated sibling rivalry in the public eye
  • Qualifying for the London 2012 Olympics together
