What happens when an opera singer listens to Led Zeppelin IV?In this episode of Record Room, I’m joined by soprano Elizaveta Kozlova to react to one of the most iconic rock albums of all time.We listen to Led Zeppelin IV together and talk through the details that stand out to her as a classically trained singer, from Robert Plant’s vocals and phrasing to the dynamics, arrangements, instrumentation, and moments that make the album so powerful. It’s part reaction, part music conversation, and part me getting to hear one of my favorite rock records through someone else’s ears.Elizaveta Kozlova is a NYC-based soprano who made her Lincoln Center debut as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with New York Lyric Opera. She is a two-time Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Encouragement Award recipient and holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Mannes School of Music. Her work spans opera, Baroque and contemporary music, including performances with Juilliard415 and Tenet Vocal Artists and a collaboration with Carnegie Hall on Into Air by Alex Mills presented at Frieze New York.
