Most people leave university with some kind of blueprint of what’s to come. After business school, Alex Costa de Wit figured the next step would be a job in consulting. Nina Gualdi, on the other hand, would carve a path in design, communications, a master’s and then somehow, figure out the rest. Now, neither blueprint quite survived in the real world, but maybe that was the point.

In this episode of The Future Is Human by Mews, host Ella McCann-Tomlin speaks with Alex and Nina about what it means to choose your first job deliberately when everything around you is pulling you toward the obvious path. They talk about trusting instinct before you have much proof, what a degree gives you when your career does not follow a straight line and why “what am I going to learn here?” might be the most valuable question to ask at the start of your career.
