TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:

John 15:20–21

[20] Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. [21] But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. (ESV)

SUMMARY

We reflect on Jesus’ warning in John 15 that servants are not greater than their master and that following Him can bring real opposition. We pray for strength, humble boldness, and peace, trusting that suffering for His name can make His worth clearer to a watching world.

• hearing Jesus’ promise that persecution can come to His followers
• rethinking the prayer “Jesus, make me like you” as including painful obedience
• recognizing opposition can happen simply because we represent Christ
• preparing our hearts to endure hardship with faith and steadiness
• remembering the world’s deep need for Jesus and why our witness matters
• seeing how suffering can reveal Jesus as the greater treasure
• closing prayer for comfort, strength, boldness, and peace at night
