If God had let you choose every person who would shape your life, would you have chosen well?

Probably not.

In this Off the Clock episode of Grace in the Grind, Cody Hudson steps outside the main season arc to remember some of the people God has used across different seasons of his life.

Some became lifelong friends.

Some challenged him.

Some slowed him down.

Some made him laugh.

Some prayed through difficult seasons.

Some said one sentence decades ago that still comes back today.

And some were people he probably never would have chosen for himself.

This episode is about the quiet ways God forms us through ordinary people.

We’ll talk about:

• Lifelong friendships that simply endure • The friend who stays through hard conversations • When discipleship grows into genuine friendship • Why we need people who challenge our blind spots • How one sentence can shape someone for decades • The gift of people who simply bring joy • Why relationships built only around sameness can leave us narrow • Watching other believers now help shape Cody’s boys • Why some important relationships only last for a season • The value of telling people what they mean to us while they can still hear it

Paul writes in Philippians 1:

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you.”

And near the end of Romans, after chapters of enormous theological truth, Paul starts naming people.

Phoebe.

Priscilla.

Aquila.

Mary.

Urbanus.

Apelles.

Because the gospel does not only create ideas.

It creates a people.

Maybe there are names in your story too.

The person who prayed.

The friend who stayed.

The person who corrected you.

The one who made life lighter.

The one God used before you even realized you needed them.

Remember them.

Thank God for them.

And if they are still here, tell them.

Make the call.

Send the text.

Invite somebody to the table.
