Drew Doughty has officially taken the captain’s reins of the Los Angeles Kings — just one day after publicly declaring his desire for the role. After years as an alternate captain and a lifetime with the team, Doughty was moved to tears when told he’d be the next leader. The GM praised his heartfelt passion for the position, noting how his vocal, emotional leadership style complements former captain Anze Kopitar’s quiet example. As he enters his 19th season, Doughty is ready to lead with heart and honor, marking another legendary milestone in his storied career.
