Ukraine’s strikes on Wildberries are doing far more than burning warehouses and disrupting Russian deliveries. The damage may now be spreading into VTB—Russia’s second-largest bank and a major financier of Putin’s wartime economy.
Wildberries gave VTB potential access to approximately 80 million customers. But before that partnership could generate substantial profits, Ukrainian strikes began systematically destroying the concentrated logistics network at the heart of Wildberries’ business model.
In this video, I explain why Wildberries will not necessarily collapse Russian retail, why VTB is the more important story, and how relatively inexpensive Ukrainian drones can create cascading financial consequences throughout Russia’s economy.
