Getting back on the dating apps in your 40s after you swore you were done with them? That was me in June. If you go back through my old episodes, you'll hear me say more than once that I hated dating apps and would never do them again. I meant it. Then I changed my mind, got back on one, and went in with a completely different mindset — and the whole summer opened up because of it.
This week I'm talking about two mantras that have been running my life lately: you can just do things, and you can change your mind. I get into why the words you say to yourself matter more than you think, why I stopped letting negative self-talk leave my mouth, and how going into dating in midlife expecting nothing except maybe meeting some cool people changed everything about how it went.
I'm also being honest about the reality of it. Dating on an app, if you actually want to date, is a full contact sport. I filtered through hundreds of profiles, matched with dozens, gave my number to men who never once reached out, and went on a handful of dates to get here. It's a lot of time and a lot of putting yourself out there, and I'd do it all again.
Plus an update on the guy I've been seeing, why he knows about the podcast and hasn't listened to a single episode, and the fact that I'm getting on a plane to Greece tomorrow with a suitcase that's still in the closet.
